Does the Slayer Steam Single Group need to be plumbed in?
No. It has a built-in 2.5 L water reservoir, so you can use it without a permanent water connection. The removable drip tray basin collects wastewater when it’s not plumbed in. If you prefer a direct water connection, the optional plumbing kit is sold separately.
Can I brew espresso and steam milk at the same time?
Yes. The Steam Single Group has separate PID-controlled boilers: a 0.8 L brew boiler and a 2.4 L steam boiler. You can pull a shot while steaming milk, which is handy when you’re making cappuccinos or several drinks in a row. It also uses electronic steam wand valves and a commercial rotary vane pump.
How does pre-infusion work on the Steam Single Group?
A dedicated water circuit gently wets the coffee bed at a reduced flow rate before the main extraction. You can set this pre-infusion stage for up to 10 seconds, and the three-position brew actuator lets you switch between brewing modes. The key adjustment here is the pre-infusion time, so don’t confuse it with unrestricted manual flow profiling.
Can I save a recipe and repeat it for my next coffee?
Yes. The record and playback function lets you save up to two custom recipes and use them again. That’s useful when you’ve dialled in a coffee and want to repeat the same brewing routine, rather than setting it up again for every shot.
How can I monitor the espresso as it extracts?
The heads-up barista dashboard shows live shot parameters so you can follow the extraction and make adjustments. There’s also an integrated shot mirror and light to help you see what’s happening under the group. The grouphead diameter is 58 mm.
Will the Slayer Steam Single Group fit on my kitchen counter?
It measures 45.7 cm wide, 57.1 cm deep and 36.8 cm high, and weighs 38 kg. Check the counter depth as well as the width, and leave working room for the steam wand and everyday access. It’s designed for serious home setups and small commercial spaces, but it still needs a sturdy counter.
